Sean took his first whole bottle tonight, over 40 ml (about an ounce and a 1/3). That is his first full feeding by nipple to date. He is precious and making good progress. The nurse said he may get to go to a regular crib tomorrow. Here is a new picture. Jim

good news day

Wow..2 major improvements in one day..he is already an overacheiver. The Dr turned off his Oxygen today..he is breathing room air now. And he took out his PICC line..which is an IV that goes up his arm all the way to the heart muscle. He doesnt need it anymore cuz he doesnt need any meds...YEAHHHH!

He is officially classified now as a FEEDER/GROWER. Thats pretty self explanatory. He just needs to learn how to nipple feed and grow consistantly. We can handle that.

He also reminded his overzealous mom to wait a minute before changing a poopy diaper. My brand new nursing top will never be the same..It stinks but ooh that smell is the smell of victory..every poop puts him farther away from the jaundice lights and closer to stumoch functioning properly..and based on the farting and pooping we know who is dad is for sure.

So much for excitement. I am beat..stay tuned for more pics and crazy stories...

My first blog

I went to see my sweet baby boy today..he is doing so well...color good..and always handsome...Had a new nurse today..she was wonderful..I hate to say it but I have forgotten her name..I was worried cuz Christine took the day off an she always spoils us..with lots of kangaroo time and warm words with her blankets.. But the nurse today subscribes to the same great idea KANGAROO IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

When we hold Sean to out chest, his dad and I, His heart rate is better, his breathing is better and so is ours. Who could ask for anything more?

This has already been a rough road..and its just beggining..but I think the nurses and Sean will get us through it..I will add pics as soon as I learn how..then you will think he is as cute as we do.
